After securing a point late on at Newcastle Town, United's wait for a home win continues after a 2-0 defeat to Chasetown. A second half brace on 63 and 87 minutes from Thomas Hill secured the points for the Scholars while United ended with ten men after Michael White's 78th minute dismissal.

Paul McNally promoted Alex Griffiths from the bench to replace the unavailable Georgie Donnelly, Henry Kamara was named on the bench for the first time while Tom Molyneux made his 50th appearance for the club.

United flew out of the blocks with Dave Moore's low cross forcing a low save from Curtis Pond in the opening minute. Chasetown replied with Callum Cockerill-Mollett sending in a low cross which was cleared by Michael White.

United came close to breaking the deadlock on 11 minutes, Tom Molyneux's lofted cross to Joel Douglas at the far post
saw the forward force a point-blank save from Pond. A stray backpass from Ryan Wynter put Pond under pressure but he saved his defender's blushed by preventing an own goal.

Thomas Hill forced a defensive block before a deflection from his rebounded shot saw Smith claim comfortably. A clever flick from Moore released Connor Belger who advanced on goal before being denied a chance to shoot by Daniel Vann's good chasing back. Another let off for Chasetown on 22 minutes as Pond's clearance cannoned off Moore with the duo battling for the ball towards the corner flag.

United continued to threaten the scoreline with Belger's rasping effort minutes later drawing a diving fingertip save from Pond before Jack Partridge fired over the bar at the other end. A clever breakaway from Belger on the half hour mark saw him find Moore who drew a two footed save from Pond. Chasetown replied with a headed effort from Hill straight at Terry Smith before a curling free-kick from William Whieldon saw Smith collect.

The second half opened with Pond saving Tom Molyneux's flicked pass and Smith collecting a cross from Niall Flint. Five minutes after the restart, Douglas sent a long range effort narrowly past the post before Belger drew a catch from Pond from a similar distance.

Clever pace and skill from Hill on the wing saw him advance into the area and clip an effort narrowly past the post. His next chance proved to be pivotal as Chasetown opened the scoring on 63 minutes, a lofted pass from Cockerill-Mollett saw Hill collect and slot past Smith for 1-0.

United looked to hit back quickly with a near post effort from Belger before suffering a blow on 78 minutes with Michael White dismissed for kicking out at Daniel Cocks. United's ten men continued to look for the equaliser with substitute Tom Grimshaw drawing a stop from Pond before fellow substitute Henry Kamara hit achingly past the near post just seconds after entering the field.

A succession of United corners saw Pond saving under the bar and Kamara close to connecting at the far post but for all their efforts, a moment of madness from United on 87 minutes wrapped up the win for the visitors. a hesitance to clear the ball on halfway by substitute Ben Giverin gifted possession to Hill who raced towards goal and sent a cheeky lob over Smith for 2-0.

The final whistle sounding minutes later left United with a another home defeat as Chasetown celebrated, nect up for United is a tough trip to Ramsbottom United.
