Cathy Freeman Oval has just completed the first stage of its redevelopment with government and sponsorship funding of around $50,000 being gathered to erect lighting for the rugby ground, which is Stage 1 of the project. This will enable the club to train on the rugby field at nights and will lead to night fixtures. Work on this commenced in December 2010, and was recently completed in January, 2012 in readiness for the current season.

Funding for Stage 2 is currently being gathered, where a new shed and change rooms will hopefully be erected. Other features of Cathy Freeman Oval, include, toilets, gear storage sheds and a club house. A grant from Mackay Regional Council in early 2010 allowed the club to purchase a state of the art scrum machine which has been very helpful in training players.

Just recently the club received another $5,000 government grant to buy a ride on mower to maintain the playing field.
