With SLICC having won the previous 3 fixtures between the sides convincingly, business appeared as usual as Pecos choose to bat and were 50-5 by the 20th over. SLICC bowled tight areas led by D Burton (1-21), W Packer (2-17) and Jenkins (5-17). After the drinks break SLICC's intensity fell somewhat and Yadav and Rahul built an 80 run stand. Debutant Horrcks (0-20) bowled well before Rodrigues dropped a dolly at mid on robbing him off his first SLICC wicket. Jenkins and W Packer returned to clean up the tail in the final overs as Pecos XI pushed for quick runs.
On a slow outfield with large boundaries 155 proved a good score and under early pressure SLICC fell to 29-4. Opening the batting on his 100th cap, Brice fell for his 4th duck of the season follwed by Jenkins (11), Nimmo (5) and Cox (7) all falling cheaply, with SLICC perhaps a little over-aggressive considering the low required run rate.
W Packer (64) and Gayford (26) regained momentum for SLICC and built a key 64 run partnership, before Gayford fell to a full ball. D Burton (20) then joined W Packer as SLICC inched towards victory. D Burton showed his maturity (146 SLICC caps) with a 49 ball innings, blocking anything straight and swinging at anything in the golf arch.
With SLICC looking well set, W Packer fell caught and bowled and D Burton was bowled in quick succession. Having needed 15 runs off 29 balls, it was soon 15 runs needed off 19 balls with 2 new batsmen at the crease. Hero of the hour Main (16*), after blocking his first 3 balls, started swinging under the captains orders . With big hits to leg, Main hit the 16 winning runs in just 10 balls to pull off a great victory in the final over.
