Flashes of skill, control, pace and power.... but the wrong result!

Final league game of the season, showed the same signs as many other matches this season.... Flashes of skill, control, pace and power.... But like many a game, the wrong result!

The Greenies made the road trip over to Chesham for the league finale; confident on the back of two successive victories.
Chesham were never going to be easy, or allow Slough to play their game, a plan that had handed The Greenies two wins over the home side this season.

The game started in typical physical arm wrestle, one which Head Coach Brown had warned his players of and not to indulge the home side with.
The home side shaded the early exchanges until a slick move through the backline saw winger Michael Spandley outpace the home defence for a converted try, extras kicked by Max Miles.
Not happy with this Chesham hit back to level, with missed tackles allowing them to score. Home side added another score, as the Slough players watched a loose ball find its way to a Stags player for a second try . A penalty by Miles reduced the arrears to 14-10 at the half.

A tough second half followed with Chesham scoring a third converted try.
Slough upped the tempo, but could find no way through the tight defence of Chesham, who stopped wave after wave of attack with some last ditch tackles on at least four occasions.

Head Coach Brown said afterwards "full credit to Chesham, they battled hard and made us work for everything, sadly like many of our games this season, we were not good enough on the day. In truth we all need to look at ourselves and be honest about this term. Has it been good enough? Have we hit targets? Realistically at least 20-25 points this season we have blown. Yes the side has become younger, but we need to not look for excuses; just solutions, as Head Coach, that is my job. So I will be looking at the squad and filling gaps and strengthening where required".
