Karen Prewett's programme notes and season review from the final home game of the season against Dereham Town on Monday 22nd April

Well the end of what has been for us a very hard season right down from the playing staff to us the management team.

Pre-season we had some hard challenges and came out of them all with glowing colours. We had very high hopes for this campaign but when we got on the pitch competitively for whatever reason it just did not go how we had planned it.

Our trip to Sudbury last week only just confirming that we would not be in a relegation battle on the final run up.
Last week’s game against Basildon was I felt a typical nothing to play for end of season game, not for them of course as they were still fighting for their own League status which with a victory over us they achieved.
Down side for us was seeing two of our players with end of season injuries. Will Gardner who had a little trip to hospital via ambulance and leading goal scorer Sam Mulready whose season has probably ended prematurely. We wish both players a speedy recovery.

From a management point of view we have seen tragedy with our Chairman Stuart Hamilton being diagnosed with a terminal illness, also long standing supporter and committee man Jim Ball also being diagnosed terminally ill.
We send you both, and your families, all our love and support for your battles to come.

On a grading issue we have had to undertake the tasks of making our dressing rooms bigger to continue to play at this level.
A massive thank-you to all our Committee and supporter Bob Shaw who gave up their time thanklessly to provide us with lovely new dressing rooms which are much improved on what we had before.
A massive thank-you also to Colin Murfitt for supplying us with the materials to undertake these tasks and also paying for our lovely new floors.

Thursday evening will have seen us undertake our first Sportsman’s dinner.
A big thankyou to Mark Goldsack and Gillian Hamilton who have put in nearly all of the work to make this happen. I hope we obtained the success you both deserve.

On a personal note I would like to say a big thank-you to our Committee who work tirelessly on match days and whom without we would not be able to run. We as a group have overcome some tough battles this year and I proud of each and every one of us.

As always enjoy your last home game today whatever the outcome, and all being well we will do it all again next season.

Enjoy your footie
Karen
