Luke Stanley’s injury time winner gave Soham the victory which sees them return to the top of the Ryman League North.

Since Soham last played, the Greens had dropped back into second place with VCD Athletic winning during the week to regain their lead, only on goal difference.
After another enforced break, the hosts named the same side that had beaten Dereham Town in their last outing.

The first half was fairly open with both sides creating attacks at the opposition’s area. Soham started on the attack with Lindsay and McCabe having early efforts, before the two keepers were called into action as Ordonez tipped Hunt’s shot round his post, before moments later Godwin-Green got done to push Harradine’s angled shot away from goal. The Greens broke the deadlock after seventeen minutes when following good play in the right corner, Stanley laid the ball off to Bromwich, who delivered it into the middle of the area where Buster Harradine rose to direct his header between Godwin-Green and his right hand post. The game continued to be played in the same manner as Godwin-Green punched away an in swinging Harradine corner, with Stanley flicking over from the resulting corner after half an hour. Shortly after, Nobbs received the ball to take it into the area only to see his shot turned behind by Ordonez.
Soham were forced into changes towards the end of the first half, and again at half time with Michael Simpson and Ben Sawyer coming on for the injured Joey Abbs and scorer Buster Harradine.
Ramblers started the second half well, equalising three minutes after the restart when Ordonez pushed away a right sided ball. Hunt delivered it back into a crowded penalty area with Mark Sissions having the final shot to fire home. Bromwich, Gent, Sissiosn and Beale were all off target before the visitors took the lead in the 62nd minute when Billy Hunt poked home following a left sided ball into the area. Soham had the opportunity to level again minutes later when Sawyer played the ball into area for Stanley, but after rounding the keeper, the striker failed to get in a shot. Wood then looped a shot over the bar, whilst Ordonez made a fine diving save to push away Sissonn’s shot before the Greens equalised in the 79th minute when Jordan Gent rose at the back post to head home Wood’s freekick. Having levelled, Soham pushed more forward in the final ten minutes, and this paid off when a minute into stoppage time, when the hosts scored a late winner, when following good work down the left, Wood delivered a low ball into the area for Luke Stanley to place past the keeper at his near post.

With VCD Athletic losing at home to Dereham Town, the win sees Soham return to the top of the table, three points above Athletic, who have five games in hand.
