On the 23rd of February 2019 Soldiers League launched Army Wheelchair Rugby League where the guys got to play their first ever game and opportunity to pull on the Red & White Army Jersey. This was through the hard work & determination of our founder and Development Coordinator Sean Fanning, Charity Director Paul Desborough & Charities Liaison Officer and star player Steve Sampher.
Soldiers League Charity are now pleased to announce that We are now launching and to be a sponsor of the inaugural Wheelchair RL Inter Services competition, with the first games being played in Portsmouth, by all three teams.
The Army, Royal Navy & RAF will all be competing against each other with the matches taking place on 6th Sep 19. The venue is the gymnasium at HMS Nelson and the competition gets underway with the first KO at 11:00 hrs.
We would like to thank the Royal Navy & RAF for working with us to enable wounded, injured, or sick (WIS) personnel of the Armed Forces to be able to participate in this variant of the sport we all love.
Many thanks also go out to the Royal Navy RL for hosting the first wheelchair Inter Services in Portsmouth and the Royal British Legion for their sponsorship of the administration of the event, and also to our President, Jeremy Bethell, for commissioning the Inter - Services trophy.
