So, what’s Solihull’s story so far…
So far? So good! How does topping the table and scoring for fun tempt you as a starter?
From the dugout...
Tim Flowers knows people have been talking about his team for a while now. Shrewd summer signings has seen to that - but he also knows they are performing. But he warns “it’s only a good start” - feet on the ground stuff. But he had “nothing but praise” for the Chorley result.
Biggest victory so far...
There’s little doubt that was the last one. Any side who scores six on the road, especially at somewhere like Chorley, are playing with magic in their boots. They type of result to make even sceptics sit up and take notice.
Where to start! Nathan Blissett for his goals? Paul McCallum for his scoring start to life at Solihull? Jamey Osborne also needs a mention. Too many to pick from!
League position: 1st
Home goals for: 5
Away goals for: 8
Home goals against: 1
Away goals against: 3
The scoring charts:
Nathan Blissett (4)
Paul McCallum (4)
Jamey Osborne (2)
What the fans say….
It won’t be a shock to the system to discover this, but twitter was a happy place this week.
Fan @Stu_Knibbs said what most were thinking, posting: “Brilliant performance. That will send out a message.”
@liamcarthy5 added: “Moors at the top now stay there all season and let them be scared of us!”
It’s bottom side Ebbsfleet United at the SportNation.bet Stadium. They’ve lost all four so far.
Their one to watch….
John Goddard has stood out despite the Fleet’s slow start to the new season. Striker Gozie Ugwu is always a danger in attack.
What can fans expect?
Tim Flowers drilling into his players that they can take nothing for granted. Top vs bottom maybe, but the manager will know they are a sitting duck for the shock result of the season if minds aren’t totally in the right place.
We’ve got history…
Last season, the Moors did the double over Ebbsfleet. The year before that, the Kent club won both matches. Let the fun begin!
