Solihull Moors travel to Southport tomorrow afternoon (3.00pm kick off) in the Buildbase FA Trophy. Here’s your full match preview…
The Moors remain in fifth place in the Vanarama National League following a 2-2 draw against Sutton last time out whilst Southport find themselves one place outside the relegation zone following an unbeaten run of five games in the National League North.
Solihull looked to make it back-to-back wins in the league at Sutton last week following an impressive 2-0 home victory over Harrogate. Two goals from Jamey Osborne wasn’t enough for the away side who left Gander Green Lane with a well-earned point.
The hosts have had an indifferent start to their season but have now climbed out of the relegation zone following two draws and three wins from their last five games. They earned a point away at top of the table Bradford PA last time out.
In the opposite dugout
Liam Watson was re-appointed manager of Southport for the third time in May of this year following the sacking of Steve Burr. The 48-year-old is well known to Southport supporters having previously managed them in 2006 and 2013.
Opposition key man
David Morgan (Midfielder) – Morgan was named club captain of the Sandgrounders in October of this year after he joined from Harrogate in 2017.
A quote from the Manager
Tim Flowers: "They’ve really improved and they’re in the middle of a great run at the minute, so we’ve got to make sure we’re lively or we’ll be out the competition."
The last time the two sides met
The Moors travelled to Haig Avenue back in November 2016 on a cold Tuesday night. The visitors had numerous opportunities to grab the winner with Akwasi Asante missing glorious chances but the Moors had to settle for a point in what turned out to be a goalless draw.

Current Wigan Athletic Manager, Paul Cook, started his managerial career at Southport back in 2006-2007. The 51-year-old joined the Latics from Portsmouth and masterminded an FA Cup victory over Man City last season.
