Solihull United FC was founded during the curtailed (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) 2019/20 season.
The club started out as Moors Academy FC, but when Solihull Moors FC decided to abandon this project, Marcus Bignot (Director of Football/Coach) and Ronald Crane (Chairman and Secretary), together with the coaching staff of Sam Manoochehri (Manager), Kim Casey (Assistant Manager), Steve Ellis (Goal Keeper Coach) and Michael Barrett (Physio) decided to change the name to Solihull Utd FC and take over the Moors Academy’s fixtures, along with their place in Division Two of the Midland Football League.
This first season was (almost) a great success, until its premature cessation, with the team winning 18 and drawing 1 of their 24 league games played to that point, with them sitting pretty at the top of the Division 2 league table on 55 points, some 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals. The team also reached the semi-final of the Birmingham County FA Saturday Vase but this competition was cancelled before the fixture could be played, again due to the Covid-19 pandemic and with The FA’s decision to nullify the season entirely without promotion or relegation or concluding any cup competitions, it meant that the season finished on a low point as all the hard work had seemingly been without reward and what was looking very much like promotion to the Midland Football League’s 1st Division along with a County Cup Final in the Saturday Vase competition.
Our direction as a club, is to develop young players to progress and play football at the highest level possible, so far we have been very successful with players going on to sign for pro clubs including Ipswich Town FC, Barnsley FC and Derby County FC amongst others.
At the end of the 2019/20 season with the club still striving to build on its success, not only on the pitch but also looking to make improvements off it, the vastly experienced, Tim Delaney, joined as the Club’s Football Secretary
Our club vision and focus is to continue to develop young players from the local community for a future in professional and semi-profesional football.
