Sonning M3's (1) South Berks (3)

We were on first on Saturday at home so had a chance for a good team talk and a bit of practice on the pitch before the game started. Straight away we realised that this team were a little better than our previous opposition, they were playing the ball around well and pressing our defence hard, forcing us to make some stray passes. They got a fairly soft goal after about 10 minutes but we replied straight away, a Toon pass into the D was meant for Alex but he threw a dummy (missed it) and it ended up with Weissman who finished neatly from close range. We then had a great period when we were on top for a good 15 minutes, however the Berks attack were playing very high, stretching the defence, so when we lost the ball in midfield, they had a clear run at goal (not that anyone was catching him anyway) and a great solo finish from the top of the D left us behind again.

The second half was a very even affair, pretty end to end as usual, we had a couple of short corners, not quite as successful as last week, although what might have been if Harry had more composure from three yards out, but he put it wide, and then threw his stick (again) straight at Elliot. We went another goal down with about ten minutes to go and then it was all over, the carefully planned formation and subs routine had gone to pot. However, good performance overall, lots of effort and endeavour, on to next week.
