Malvern 81 - 5 Southam

Another tough day for Southam as they faced 'Malverns best team for 3 seasons', the score does not reflect Southam's overall performance as in the forwards it was 50:50 game.

Malvern picked up points in the first half through their backs as Southam (and I predict most teams in the league) could not handle the fast hands, slick lay offs and the pace of the Malvern backs, coached & led by ex Gloucester RFC regular Rob Cook & they racked up a 55 points.
HT 55 - 0

Southam settled the ship in the 2nd half, pinning Malvern on their line for 10 minutes, forcing numerous penalties before Malvern broke, Southam subdued Malvern for another 10 minutes and forced their way into the Malvern 22 and on the back of repeated penalties & line outs, drove over in the forwards for the try by prop Sam deeming, converted by No8 Will Grindal.
Southam ran out of gas in the last 10 and Malvern finished with a flourish.
FT 81 - 5

Another performance to build on with the young wingers Henry Warner & Will Eadon, and full back Toby Page putting in some fine last gasp tackles.
