Southam unveiled there new shirt sponsor,local firm Alko at their sponsors lunch, but all their reward was a bonus point, which helps, but does not secure their safety from relegation, next weeks game at Ledbury becomes even more crucial.

On a wet and windy afternoon Southam played against the elements first half and went behind to a penalty after 10 mins , Southam who played with gusto but against a bigger more streetwise pack could not seem to extend the Evesham side and when they did they ended up either dropping the ball or giving it away. Southams tackling was excellent in the first half and restricted the score to only 0-3 at half time.

With the elements in there favour the concensus on the sideline was to kick the ball to the clubhouse corner and work the line from there, this was not forthcoming as Evesham restricted Southams ball supply and Southam struggled to find any rhythm. After 15 mins, Southam drew level with a penalty from scrum half Tom Mcquire, after good work by No 8 Will Lyne and flanker Kieron Ackford. The return from injury of hooker Sam Deeming was a plus point for Southam as his work in the loose was immense. Southam conceded a second penalty for going over the top making the score 3-6. At the death Southam finally got a rolling maul together and came close to scoring, but the refs incessant whistle was gain heard to stop the momentum. Southam flanker Dan Haynes was the man of the match for some outstanding tackles and all round workrate.

Southam need to up there game next week as Ledbury have equal points at 37 and not rely on other teams helping them, we have the ability just
need the motivation and nouse.
