Manor Park 16 - 13 Southam

Southam started brightly down the slope and were 3 points up after only 2 minutes with a penalty from Dodds. They kept Manor Park in their own half for 10 minutes before scrum half Etherington, chipped into the corner and forced the lineout, followed by a maul where Southam were held up on the line, but the quick ball was fed to winger Thorpe for a 1m try and his eighth of the season. Manor Park worked their way back up the pitch and managed 2 penalties before the half. 6 - 8.

Southam came out strong after the half and had their best session, 4 forward thrusts, by Hewson, Kimberly, Lyne and Barnes, pushed Manor Park and backwards 30m and from the disarray ,the ball was fed wide to Bench, who scurried into the corner for the try. Southam were unlucky not to increase this lead on a couple of occasions, but could not quite turn the opportunities into points, as they let off the gas a little, Manor Park put several phases together and eventually crashed over for a converted try. Manor were awarded another penalty and Southam were unlucky to miss two penalty attempts to equal or even win the game.

Southam are looking in good in parts, with a young squad including 7 ex colts and If they can put it all together for the full 80 minutes more wins look on the cards.
