Southam 15 - 17 Woodrush

Southam started a bit warily against the league leaders, but stood fast and honours were even for 20 minutes, until Woodrush opened the scoring with a penalty for offside, Southam responded and got great field position from a chip by scrum half Ellerington and continued forwards pressure gained a free kick, that was quickly spread wide to winger Bench who scurried over for the try, converted by fly half McGuire. Woodrush replied with a penalty, leading up a half time score of 7-6 to Southam.

Woodrush got the first points of the 2nd half, 10 min in with a 3 point penalty for a late tackle by centre Hewson. Southam replied with a long penalty by returning wing forward Will Grindal to take the score to 10-9. Woodrush took the lead back with another penalty for not releasing. Southam who had been dominant in the lineouts all game, through Kimberly, Lander and Harris, but in the 2nd half they got domination in the tight, driving back the Woodrush scrum and pushing Woodrush back into there 22 and a score looked imminent, but a dropped ball by Southam backs let Woodrush get away for a 60m try. 10 - 17.

Southam resumed the pressure and fast recycled ball spread quickly by Jay got to 2nd row / prop Catterall, who was unstoppable for the try, 15 - 17. On the 80 minutes, the wide out conversion would even the game, but Grindal pushed it just wide.

Another solid performance in a game that could have gone either way from a young Southam team growing in confidence.
