Coverage of Southampton Spitfires RLFC

Since forming in the summer of 2007 Southampton Spitfires have worked hard to increase their profile.

As well as coverage in the local paper we feature regularly in the national Rugby League press and online.
It is still early days in the development and expansion of the club but already we have enjoyed some notable exposure.

Landmark moments include:

2007 - Our first ever match report in the Southern Daily Echo.
2009 - BBC Radio Solent broadcast the first ever live coverage of a Rugby League match in the city.
2009 - BBC Radio London interview our head coach.
2009 - A cameo appearance on Sky Sports 'Boots n All'.
2010 - Rugby League World Magazine features the club for the first time.
2011 - Forty-20 Magazine features an interview with our funding officer.
2011 - BBC Radio Solent broadcast a half hour radio interview.
2012 - Our women's team's championship win gains widespread exposure.
2012 - Oli Johnson scores for England Lions in Toronto, the game is shown on Canadian TV and in the UK on Premier Sports.

Every time we are featured in the local press or on the radio our web site hits peak sharply, which is good news for everyone connected with the club. In fact our website unique visitors topped 25,000 in 2012, generating over 130,000 hits.

The archive below is updated periodically with any news features or coverage the club has benefited from. If you spot us in the press, hear about us on the radio or even see us on the TV please let us know!
