Southampton Spitfires had their first masters player at the weekend when 1st Grade Head Coach was selected to play in game 1 for the London Masters team against a Yorkshire Masters side with the second game played between the Political Animals and the Medway Dragons.
The games were part of a double header before the London Skolars main game for the Friday Night Lights and were enjoyed by a reasonable sized crowd. The Yorkshire Masters team had too much pace and experience for the home side and ran in 8 trys to none but as with all Masters Games the final score was 0-0.
Head Coach Tyreman played well in his first Masters run out and showed some nice touches during the game including sending Guildford Giants second rower Brian Stokes into a huge gap to score only for the referee to rule it out as a Yorkshire player in Gold Shorts called a late touch.
More Masters games are planned for this winter for any players who are over the age of 35 and still want to play. Any interested players should contact Glenn Tyreman at the club.
