'The club has big plans for the future and is looking to build on the double promotion of 2019'
- Mark Andrews – SDCC chairman
A happy new season to everyone
Well it actually looks like we are going to get a full season this year which is great, although things aren’t quite back to normal yet. We are waiting for more guidance from the ECB but the bar will re-open during the week of May 17. Hopefully by end of June we will be able to use changing rooms (and maybe even have tea)
The club has big plans for the future and is looking to build on the double promotion of 2019. There are several new (and old) faces playing and supporting this year, which is great, and it is good to see all of you. Training is going well on both Wednesdays and Thursdays and the junior colts night on Fridays has just about 50 youngsters (any volunteers to help gratefully received). A big shout-out to Hannah and Mike Smith, Brian Allen, Brian Yip, Jay Hargreaves, Kev Murphy and Ian Shepherd for organising it all, and also to Louis and Sean for helping out. It really has been a team effort led by Hannah and Mike. The under-15s start their season next Monday against Abbots, so we all wish them good luck and hope they enjoy the season, and again thanks to Mike, Matt, jay and Brian Y for all their time on Thursdays.
Another great development is that we are having an under-11 girls game against Bovey and Ipplepen on Sunday, May 16.
Finally can I make a plea on membership fees, they were due on May 1 and need to be sorted ASAP. We are giving lots of options to pay this year. Ideally you can set up a direct debit through the club website for £7 a month (£10 if you want to join the 152 monthly draw). This splits the annual fee into manageable chunks so that you won’t get chased for a one-off payment this year. Of course you can still pay cash, and we will work with anyone who needs assistance. To run the club and continue to develop both the playing and non-playing aspects we need everyone to commit. Please can all players either set up the direct debit, or arrange payment by the end of May.
Many thanks for your time, and please share this message through your own social media networks, and forward on to any members/ players not included in this mail
Any thoughts or ideas on how the club can run better are always gratefully received, so please come and have a chat
MARK ANDREWS
