Southend & Benfleet’s first team lost away to Bromley & Beckenham 3-1. Southend & Benfleet got on the scoring sheet first after being awarded a penalty corner. Penalty corner supremo Naomi Barker, playing her first match of the season, struck the ball to the right post, connecting with Caitlin Meredith who deflected it into the goal. Kerry Payton earned herself player of the match in defence but by half time Bromley had scored two goals, the second from a high ball on the volley. Southend & Benfleet had a number of chances in the second half but didn’t convert and Bromley managed to score another from a penalty corner into the bottom right corner.
