Southend & Benfleet 1st XI: 1 (Kirsty Durban)
Holcombe 1A: 2
Southend & Benfleet faced another tough match against Holcombe. The home side scored first in open play when a ball sent out from the defence found Karen Ellis on the right then Kirsty Durban dribbled into the D and got round the Holcombe keeper. Holcombe had evened the score by half time. In the second half, player of the match Caitlin Meredith dropped into defence. It was a very even second half but Holcombe capitalised on a loose ball out to the right which they lifted past Lisa Hawkins in goal. Southend & Benfleet kept attacking but unfortunately were left without any points. This match marked the halfway point with Southend & Benfleet sitting ninth out of twelve.
Captain Nina Dabbs said "It’s been a tough half season, we’ve had a few injuries, but we haven’t been outclassed in any of the matches so we hope to build on this and pick up some points in the second half."
