Southend & Benfleet played their final home match of the season against Sevenoaks. With their team back up to full strength, Southend & Benfleet were off to a confident start. The two teams were matched very evenly and the play was end to end. Kerry Payton earned herself player of the match for a solid defensive performance. Neither side had scored by half-time but that soon changed as Karen Burgess buried a penalty corner 10 minutes into the second half. Southend & Benfleet held off Sevenoaks with Lisa Hawkins on top form in goal. However Sevenoaks managed to slip one past. With 15 minutes to go, Sevenoaks seemed to be on the up, but the home side kept them at bay to earn themselves a valuable point.
