2s lose to tough Crostyx side

It was a very wet Saturday start to the new Southend and Benfleets 'super' 2s season travelling to Crostyxs home ground. New captain, Louise Marsack was in fighting spirits dishing out formation strategies well in advance to the hungry new team. However, the overall advice from the fresh faced captain was to have fun, and it was certainly fun that the 2s had. The first half kicked off with both sides fighting hard for the possession of the ball. With the play mainly down the left hand side of the pitch Jo Hall, Nicola Ellis, Lora Sharples and Claire King were putting into practice their well-polished passes. However, Crostyx were determined to challenge the defence as much as possible and they finally managed to convert making the score 1-0 at half time.

With a rousing team talk at half time the positivity of the team was high going into the second half. This appeared to push the team on and, with some runs from Hannah Tooze and Charlotte Brooks, S&B finally bagged a few consecutive short corners of their own. However, sadly the now drenched ladies couldn't convert and the attack only seemed to make Crostyx more determined to finish the game, scoring twice more before the final whistle. POM went to 'super' 2s superstar of the day, Hannah Tooze.
