2s notch up first win for the season

Captain Louise Marsack had rallied the troops during the week leading up to the match, and had brought a very strong squad of energetic ladies to the pitch. This tactic appeared to pay off given that as soon as the whistle blew the entire team were pushing into Old Loughtonians’ half for the majority of the game.

With sprints from player of the match Charlotte Brooks into the D the squad were very quickly causing problems for the opposition’s defence. It was only a matter of time before Lora Sharples made a quick slip from the right to Lily Cole who cracked the ball into the right hand corner of the goal.

In the second half, Claire King cracked the ball into the backboard shortly after an earlier miss, making the score line 2-0.
Energy and spirit levels remained high, and the S&B ladies were determined to gain more ground on the opposition before the game was done. With this in mind, the ladies pressed hard and managed to win a few short corners.
Captain Louise Marsack decided that it was her turn to show everyone how it was done. The ball was perfectly injected, Lora Sharples once again assisted by slipping across to the left, and the S&B captain gracefully put the ball snug in the opposition’s goal.
Captain Louise Marsack said, ‘We had 5 new members join the team this season and they have brought with them a burst of energy which showed in the way we played on Saturday’.
