2s slip to defeat by Wapping

S&B Super 2s decided to go on a cross country drive this weekend to play on Wapping’s home soil at John Orwell Sports Centre.

On arrival the ladies were greeted by a well warmed Wapping side who were already running laps around the outside of the pitch even before the men's game had finished. This showmanship of dedication to the warm up served as a pre-game omen to the S&B ladies.

As the starting whistles blew the S&B side were off to a flying start, keeping a lot of the possession and play well within the Wapping half. With some dazzling stick displays by Claire Sutton that would put any pro player to shame (including some ‘keepy-uppy’ skills that came from nowhere), the Wapping side looked slightly shaken from their pre-game ambition to annihilate.

The S&B side also put pressure on the Wapping ladies by tactfully bringing along some fresh blood in the form of Grace (last name) and charlotte (last name), who combined were running lengths of the pitch at the pace of a freight train.

Sadly the S&B efforts were short lived. Just before the half time whistle the Wapping ladies appeared to regroup, gaining some wind from their rolling subs, and snuck a ball past the pitch players resulting in a 1 on 1 situation with the S&B keeper who couldn’t quite ground in time to stop the ball sneaking past her before hitting the goal backboard.

The second half was more of the same, with S&B keeping the majority of the possession but just couldn’t quite find their shots hitting the target. However, Wapping were not done with their annihilation of the away team and decided to sneak yet another goal past the S&B goalie with yet another 1 on 1 situation.
