Southend and Benfleet 2nd XI - 2 (Lily Cole and Hannah Tooze) Redbridge & Ilford 2nd XI: 0
Late Saturday evening the Super 2s came out of hibernation to play in the blistering wind against Redbridge on their home ground. Once again, captain Louise Mersack had made some pre game tactics which the rest of the team now dub ‘game gate’. The squad were prepped, the line up was strong, anticipation was high. As the starting whistles blew the super 2s set off on a cavalry charge up into Redbridges half, and here they stayed for the majority of the game. Tornado Hannah Tooze and Blitzing Charley Edwards provided the push from the mid allowing the S&B Super 2s forwarders to cram and create trouble within Redbridges D. However, Redbridge appeared to anticipate every attack from the Super 2s and the oppositions keeper done well keeping Redbridge in the game with some cheeky saves on the line. This only added fuel to the fire within the bellies of the S&B troop, and with some regrouping up front it was only a matter of time before the first goal arrived. With a few cheeky passes from the mid, Charlotte Brooks scooped the ball up into her whirlwind and travelled at speed up into Redbridges D. Shorts were given time and time again with no let up for the opposition, and with an almighty crash Hannah Tooze eventually found the backboard. Redbridges heads were now hanging low after this blow, and the S&B Super 2s troop took full advantage of this when Lily Cole scored one more goal before the final whistles were blown. Final score S&B 2 – Redbridge 0
