Hard work pays off

A great start to the season saw Southgate take our first win in convincing style.
The first 20 minutes wasn't quite that giving away 15 penalties and allowing cuffley to capitalise on that, picking up the first try of the game to make it 7 -0
The team talk clearly worked for the second quarter, which saw Southgate come out the blocks and dominate, running off the rust to play the rugby everyone knows they can.
The first Southgate try came from a penalty move straight from the training ground that saw Laurence Price run at their pack get tackled high and a penalty try was given 7-7

Second try came in the 3rd quarter seeing Adam S take the ball in for a driving maul and our scrum half Mark take the ball from the back to touch the ball down, a missed conversion made it 7-12.
As the game went on Southgate were getting stronger and stronger going through the phases dominating the game and obviously Southgate were saving the best try till last which saw Adam S take the ball from the scrum half draw 2 players and pop the ball to Andy Budd from full back running a line just outside there 22 handing off two people as he strolled to the try line, a conversion made this game 7-19 and with a horrific injury to a Cuffley man the game was forced to finish with 8 minutes left on the clock.

Southgate want to thank Cuffley RFC for hosting and give our support to their man who got injured and hopes he recovers quick.
