Message to the Adders family

Dear Adder

As you are aware, the whole country is going through a very difficult time right now with the Covid-19 virus dominating our lives.

Naturally there are more important issues than cricket that we are facing right now but I wanted to update you on how this affects Southgate Adelaide CC.

The directive from the ECB is that no recreational cricket is to be played until May 28th at the very earliest. We are expecting this to be extended but in an ever changing situation, I don't particularly wish to speculate on what may or may not happen.

For a club looking to celebrate our 150th season, current events have provided the Committee with a huge logistical challenge. We will follow government advice and make a decision whether the planned events will go ahead at earliest opportunity and inform you as soon as any final decisions are made.

Thanks to our excellent Treasurer Neil Watts, along with Richard Ellwood working on income streams, we will be here for the 2021 season even if no cricket is played this year. Again the off field decisions over the last few years, along with the generosity of our sponsors, St Helier mean that we will survive come what may.

As a club at the heart of the community, if any of you are in a vulnerable position during this crisis, we want to give you our support and you can email me at danielwhiting1970@gmail.com should you wish to discuss any matter further.

We will get through this and soon it will be a distant, albeit bad memory to look back upon.

I will keep you all updated over the next few weeks but in the meantime may you and your families stay safe and take the government advice regarding staying indoors.

Dan Whiting
Chairman
Southgate Adelaide CC
