Things started brightly at a very chilly Douglas Eyre Sports Ground in Walthamstow when captain James Lock got the team off to a great start with a stunning shot from around twenty-five yards that nestled in the top bins. Locky had apparently hit a 'hole-in-one' at golf earlier in the week and celebrated the goal with a splendid drive.
Things then got a bit messy and Alleyn Old Boys soon equalised from what looked like a very soft penalty by thirty minutes it was 4-1 to Alleyn and the cup was slipping out of Southgate's grasp.
As some supporters were coming back from their half time refreshments of coffee and chips, Bradley (Scholsey) broke clear to make it 4-2 and give the Olympians some hope, Alleyn's quickly restored their three goal lead though before a penalty this time for Southgate saw Zazzy make it 5-3.
Another great effort from Locky hit the bar, before Scholsey tucked home his 2nd and 39th goal of the season to make it 5-4, with around fifteen minutes to go, and although Olympic threw everything but the kitchen sink at it they just couldn't find the equaliser to take the game into in extra-time and went down 5-4.
So it's back to league action now and the 3s still have an outside chance of winning the league especially as they play 2nd placed Albanian's in a double header on Easter Saturday.
