SOUTH LEICESTER RFC
It is with deep regret that the Directors and Management Committee of South Leicester RFC have today decided to withdraw the clubs First XV from the 2019-20 season Midlands Premier League and will therefore not honour further fixtures in that league for the rest of the season. This decision has not been taken lightly but as results have shown the lack of suitable playing strength and with the shortage of front row, the club must think of player’s safety and their wellbeing
The Club will seek to re-enter the Midlands Leagues for the season 2020/21. The level will be decided by the Midlands Division Organising Committee following the result of a review of the Adult Competition Structure which is currently being undertaken by the Rugby Football Union.
The club will continue to put out a senior team each week for the rest of the season to play either friendly games or within the Leicestershire Merit Tables as appropriate whilst rebuilding for next season.
The club wishes to acknowledge the effort by the club coaches and players and thank everyone for the positive support it has received from within the club, the LRU and the wider rugby community and can only apologise to the remaining clubs in the Midlands Premier, most of which have been supportive from the start of the season, we wish them well for the remainder of the year
