A bitterly cold day saw a mixed South Squad put to the sword by a well drilled and physical outfit from Keveston.
The first couple of minutes set the scene as from the kick off Keveston ran through our entire defence to score a try and with the exception of a one man tackling show from Will. Basey-Broom the team appeared to cave in with Keveston scoring with ease throughout the rest of the first half to go in at 5-0.
The introduction of Will Adams and Sam in the second half shored up the back line somewhat and this limited Keveston to a further two tries as the majority of the team were battling not only against the opponents, but the conditions.
Boys, as Nick said at the end of the game it’s a hard, but these sort of conditions are part of the sport; please take away from today all the lessons learned.
Our performances of late have been positive so we can put this one down to the mixed team and the weather. More commitment required from the kick off in future, not just in the second half.
Will Basey-Broom, you were outstanding; an example for the rest of the team to follow.
