Following on from the ECB guidance released on the 8th July, we are pleased to hear that cricket will be able to resume from Saturday 11th July.

The club will be issuing further information in regards to the start of the junior and senior season once further information and fixtures have been issued by the leagues.

However the start of cricket does come with restrictions and stipulations to enable us to provide a safe environment to get the game on. I have attached a copy of official ECB guidance for your information, however we have summarised the main points, including the changes SMCC are implementing as part of the government guidelines.

Firstly we would like to reiterate that the health and safety of all our members and club supporters is paramount and we ask that anyone who is feeling unwell or if you or any of your household have any symptoms of Covid-19 to stay at home and refrain from entering the Swan Croft premises or spectating from the wall side.

We will be operating track and trace in line with the NHS recommendation, where you will be asked to complete an online google form whenever you enter the Swan Croft Premises. Your information will be stored by the Club Welfare Officer, Harriet Barr, for 21 days before it will be permanently erased. This information will also be accessible by the Club Secretary, John Richardson and Head of Junior Cricket, Jonathan Barr. To complete the form please go to - track.southmilford.org.uk

Should you have entered the Swan Croft premises or come into contact with other wall side spectators and develop symptoms of Covid-19 you must inform the club immediately by emailing welfare@southmilford.org.uk or contacting Harriet on 07871076396.

If you are planning on using the nets, so we can maintain social distancing, please can we remind you to book your slot using the booking form here - nets.southmilford.org.uk.

The main points from the ECB Return to Cricket Plan for Step 4 and the steps SMCC are also implementing are as follows:
Social distancing should be maintained at all times, and regular hand washing / santising should be practiced.
A ‘hygiene break’ should take place every six overs or every 20 minutes, whichever is sooner, in which the ball is cleaned with an anti-bacterial wipe and all participants’ hands are cleaned using a suitable sanitiser. This routine should also be followed at the start of any drinks break or the close of an innings.

11 a side cricket can return so long as groups are limited to a maximum of 30 people, including coaches and officials.
All spectators should maintain social distancing.

The club house and changing rooms will be closed except for the use of toilet facilities and medical treatment.
The central toilet is for females and disabled people only. Males should use the two changing room toilets.
Only one person in the toilet at any one time, unless you are accompanying a child. There will be no waiting in the changing room.
Antibacterial spray / wipes will be provided in each toilet, so we ask if you could please wipe down the surfaces once you have finished using the facilities.
The toilets and common touch points will be regularly santised throughout the day by a member of SMCC.

All players must arrive ready in their kit.
The changing room may be used for the batsman for privacy when padding up, but there must be only one person in the changing room, and during this time the toilet will not be available for use.
We advise that valuables should be kept in cars where possible. Car keys for the fielding side can be kept in a locked safe in the home dressing room upon request.
Where possible, equipment should not be shared. If there is a need to share equipment, the equipment should be cleaned and sanitised before and after use.
In the event of inclement weather all players and spectators should return to their vehicles.

Before the start of each game/training session, the SMCC captain/coach will re-iterate the new guidelines to everyone present, and ensure they are understood.

Players must bring their own food and refreshments, including a reusable water bottle. No tea will be provided and the tuck shop will be closed.
There is an outside tap under the veranda to the left of the pavilion for the refilling of water bottles.
In the event that first aid is required, the first aid box can be found in the central room of the pavilion on the wall on the right hand side. An eye washing station will also be situated here.
Face masks can be found in the first aid box, and must be worn by the first aider administering the treatment as well as the person receiving the treatment - unless the treatment is to the face area where wearing a mask would not be possible.
Once treatment is complete the area thoroughly cleaned and sanitised one treatment is complete.

Your cooperation with the new guidelines is greatly appreciated to ensure we have a safe environment for everyone and can enjoy cricket in 2020.

If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Best wishes
