The U13s had a tough game today against a strong Clarendon Reds team. The Blues started strongly with Theo scoring after a great pass from Liam. Oscar pounced on a goal kick to make it 2 and Theo converted a cross from Tarrin to make it 3-0 within 12 mins. Clarendon started to find their feet though and the game evened up with both defences having to work hard. Elliot showed a lot of energy to move around the pitch both in attack and defence.
In the second half, the Blues were playing uphill and against the wind and a very equal game saw Clarendon pull one back which encouraged them to keep pushing and get a second with still 15 mins left. South Newton started attacking more and had a number of shots but all directly at the keeper. It was a relief when the final whistle went for the Blues to win 3-2. Elliot deserved his Player of the Match award for continuing to work hard all game.
Next week is the U13s last home league game of the season, against Clarendon Whites.
