Durrington 3 - 3 South Newton U13s

When I took over as Manager of the South Newton U13s, it was specifically to be involved in games like this - two excellent teams playing great football in a competitive but friendly manner with lots of respect for each other. In a tight game with plenty of chances for both sides, Theo and Oscar scored from each other's assists with 2 goals for Theo and 1 for Oscar. Durrington always kept up with the pace though and were never more than 1 goal behind before equalising. Both sides had opportunities to win the game with Durrington having a late goal ruled out for offside. David found himself in the unfamiliar position of being through on goal with a few minutes remaining but couldn't quite convert it. The defensive back line always made Durrington work hard, aided by Tarrin and Liam playing in a Central Defensive Midfielder role. Owen made a number of goal-saving clearances and saves when it looked certain Durrington would add to their tally. Fin passes the captain's armband to Taylor for next week as Taylor was today's Player of the Match, winning plaudits from both teams for his defensive strength and calmness under pressure.

A final score of 3-3 was deserved for both teams. Thanks to Durrington for their hospitality and for joining us in playing the game in such enjoyable spirits.
