Saturday The Shiners hosted Gedling Miners Welfare at The Transcare Arena in our 40th UCL Division 1 league game of the season. The Shiners were 9 games unbeaten going into the day with Gedling MW struggling towards the bottom of the table.

As the game got underway, the away side started strong putting the Normo defence under pressure early on. It was Lewis Macaskill out on the left who was the danger man early on for The Shiners beating his man on a few occasions however he was unable to find a blue shirt in the box or the back of the net. On the 25 minute mark there was a breakthrough though with centre half Albie White playing a great ball into the Gedling box from deep on the left hand side with inform Mason Booth-Davis glancing a lovely header past the keeper to settle the early SNAFC nerves. The first half was fairly 50/50 after the goal with both sides creating a couple of chances however both keepers were equal to the efforts, therefore sending The Shiners in a goal up at the break.

The second half was more of the same with the away side certainly not playing like a team struggling at the bottom end of the table with their positive play throughout. Just before the hour mark it was some Josh Scully magic as always to unlock the Gedling defence delivering a great ball into the box with Mason Booth-Davis doubling his tally for the day with a powerful header from the middle of the 6 yard box past the keeper. 2 minutes from the end Mason was involved once again with a free kick into the box, George Morris with a back heeled flick goal-wards which was saved however U21 star Liam Morris pounced quickest to poke home registering his first senior goal for the club! Late on Mason Booth-Davis had a chance to wrap up his hat-trick after he broke away from the Gedling defence, it looked like he was caught in two minds whether to chip the keeper or take it round him & his effort was wide of the goal however the damage was done with the game ending in a 3-0 home victory.

Thanks as always to the amazing home support with over 160 of you coming down & getting behind the lads.

MOTM was Mr Consistent, Leo Marshall who once again didn't put a foot wrong, won every duel & locked down the left side as he always does. Thanks as always to Debbie & Kev for sponsoring this award every game.

Next up we are back on home soil Saturday as we host Southwell City in another important game for our play-off push as we head into our final 4 games of the season. All support is greatly appreciated.
