South Normanton entertained a football team from the heart of Leicester,this team has history including last years semi-final vase team, plus faverites for the league this season, and you could tell at the start of the game, It was clean and tidy football with swift passing team and St Andrews wanted all the pitch, the first half ended with St Andrews with a lot of possession but you couldn’t ever rule South Normanton out with two great efforts from Shane Newton, both one on ones but the keeper some how keeping a clean sheet to the first half, don’t get me wrong, this was a calculated brilliant game of football, both sides working the ball from left to right and working the wings, both sides producing just a handful of chances, half time came quickly and was goalless.

The second half Normanton started the better side with good football on both wings. Interactive play on the right starting from left back Ryan Granger to Sam Griffiths the to Shane Newton I counted ten passes till it faded out but on the left Sam Keenan and Ant Fay started working St Andrews which frustrated them until the game saw 3 cards in 5 minutes, but one was a red card for St Andrews Callum Garls, Normantons football got the deserved goal on 67 by Anthony Fay, after pressure the ball found Fay, Fay took the defender on, hit the bye line, pulled the ball back to get his cross in with his right foot, but hit the ball low into the bottom left hand side off St Andrews goal, the keeper got a foot to the ball but could only deflect the goal in to the top of his goal, the game was so close for the 90 minutes with South Normanton having 6 attempts on target and St Andrews with just seven shots on target, this is great win for South Normanton Athletic but need to take this form to Kimberley Miners Welfare next Saturday at the Stag Ground, Nottingham Road, Kimberley NG161BA with a 3pm kick off
