South Shields host Yarm Rugby this weekend looking to secure their first win of the new season.

The Cleadon Club sponsored side have had a difficult start to the season losing all three of their opening league games to Wallsend, Seaham and Seghill.

Yarm themselves sit fifth in the table having won two of their three opening games including impressive victories over Prudhoe&Stocksfield and West Hartlepool TDSOB losing only to league favourites Redcar.

The South Shields coaching team have worked hard this week to fill in the blanks and errors over the past few weeks to put a winning formula together ahead of Saturdays fixture.

Matty Stephenson is still missing however Paul Bate and Steven Lockney return adding power and experience to the pack. Bates’ return could see Grant Borrill move into the second row.

Chris’ Lisle and Wann will both hope to start while Lee Mckeith is also available.

Jordan Wright also returns giving Gavin van der Merwe serious thoughts on his starting pack.

The back row is likely to remain unchanged with captain Dan McKay at 8 and Fred Waddingham and Jordan Pratt on the flanks.

Brandon Livingstone returns and could slot into scrum half in place of the injured Tom Poole.

Stephen Waddle returns and will go straight in at fly half and could be joined in the backs by Marcus Colborne who could start at 12.

Ian Howdon could move back into the centre with Lee Bell likely to move to wing. Ian Arkley also returns and could start at fullback with Ryan Dowens moving to his more familiar wing position.

Irishmen Gerard Millar is included while Steven Kenny and Evan Knott have been included as reserves.

Saturdays game kicks off at 3pm at Brinkburn CIO with post match refreshments available in the Cleadon Club.

1a Dentist are once again the match sponsors with Radhuni Indian Restaurant the matchball sponsor.
