Good prep for next week's semi final

With an important cup semi final next week, this was a game to keep in shape before hand and despite an under strength team the 1sts comfortably saw off the 2nds in a lively and entertaining game, played just before our annual dinner no dance

This was kept tight early on as the 1sts attacks failed to make much headway apart from forcing some great saves from Matt Scrase off 2 reverse shots from Mike. The deadlock was nearly broken by Colin Stillwell for the 2nds but he has a swing and a miss in the D. In the end it was a great run from Mike that turned things he slipped the ball to Saul who rounded Matt Scrase but then could not finish his ball back across the goal came off Ian Wainwright and fell into the path of Mike Goatcher who smashed home. 1-0 to the 1sts just before the halfway point.

In the 2nd half was the Theo Whiting show as he constantly went round Greg and the rest of the 2nds side and he set up Jamie Bird to put the 1sts further in front. 2 well worked short corners made the score 4-0 as tommo went missing at the back post and John Glover turned home twice from close range after passes from Mike Goatcher. Matt Vokes added a 5th - this was an improvement on the 9-0 lost the 2nds sufered last time, and we also saw Greg cramping up during the game, and it was great to see Paul Glover back in England and playing hockey again
