Good work in the midfield put Taff Mapawanda through 1 on 1 with the Ashford keeper, unfortunately his flick was comfortably saved.

Taff Mapawanda forced his way through riding several challenges for a chance on the reverse which went just wide.

Driving through from midfield found himself on the reverse and the same result a Taff a few minutes earlier fired just wide.

After fine work by Southwick midfield, Lawrence Tanner running through from midfield ended one on one with the keeper, with the keeper coming out on top the follow up from Rob Lowe was well snuffed out by the Ashford defence.

From pressure on the Ashford defence the ball came to Taff Mapawanda on the top of the ‘D’ his turn and is fierce drive missed the mark and could have bought Southwick Back into the Game.

With 11min remaining Southwick pressed hard for an equaliser and forced a penalty corner. From the breakdown of this attack Ashford broke down the pitch and finished from close range in clinical style.
Man of the Match – Taff Mapawanda
Southwick although very disappointed with the result has shown considerable improvement over last season when Ashford comfortably dismissed Southwick both home and away.
Southwick slip to 4th after 3 games and again face a very stern challenge v Marden Russets at Marden next week.
