A very weakened team (one Sub) missing 6 regular players struggled against a strong Marden 16 man squad in the 21deg heat at Marden near Maidstone,

At half time Southwick had hung on to Marden and were still in the game but the heat and lack of substitutes were going to cost them in the second period.

From a bouncing cross a first time touch in from the edge of the ‘D’ was excellently finished by Marden giving keeper George Davis no chance in goal.
Despite the final score George Davis performed well with a string of fine saves keeping the score to the 5 conceded.
