Southwick pay for missed chances

A very fast and competitive first half produced few clear chances and it was going to take a bit of special play to generate a goal---
Goal Southwick - Matt Vokes 34min 1:0
Very slick interchange of passes between Rob Lowe & Matt Vokes put him through with only the keeper to beat, he slotted home past the advancing keeper.
The game remained very tight and played at a ferocious pace till half time.

Goal Southwick - Rob Lowe 42min - 2:0
After a good period of pressure Southwick forced a penalty corner.
Rob Lowe slid a drag flick into the bottom right corner.

After fine pressing by Southwick the ball broke to Taff Mapawanda his shot was blocked by the defender.

After fine pressing by Southwick forward, Taff Mapawanda his pass fell to Matt Vokes clear on top of the ‘D’ his fierce shot just over the bar.
The fear was that in such a competitive game Southwick would regret missing these chances.

Southwick Defender Grant Packham had to leave the field after receiving a ball onto his cheek from a wild reverse hit by a Canterbury forward.

With a few min remaining Canterbury pressed hard for an equaliser and forced a penalty corner. This resulted in a number of deflections and a flick past keeper Matt Scrase.
Canterbury Goal – 69 min - 2:1
With 1min remaining a Southwick attack was foiled and a fine run by the Canterbury Wing back got him to the Southwick ‘D’ and the resulting cross was deflected by one player to a striker at the far post and was finished cleanly.
Canterbury regained possession from the push back and were happy to play out the remaining time pleased with their last turn around.
