A long trip up to EG for a 4.30 start left the 1sts a little short player wise however it was hoped they would have enough to see off a struggling EG 4ths who had not managed to a team out in the reverse fixture pre Christmas
However a forward wearing a number 7 shirt on the EG team really did a number on Wick, scoring 3 in the first half ( 2 wonderful dipping strikes from short corners, and a well placed reverse shot) and with another goal thrown in it was 4-0 at half time. There was too much to do in the 2nd half and frustration spilled over a little however we knuckled down and made a game of it.
2 quick goals the first from Birdy after neat play from Ryan the next from Nick Slater meant we had them back to 4-2 and were really pushing to take it close, however we couldn't score from a spell of pressure and that number 7 came back into play weaving his way through most of the team a couple of times and finishing into the top corners of the goal. It would have been more however Matt Scrase pulled off some fantastic saves, mainly against the same forward who was quite simply unplayable. A late consolation when Ryan Nicholas turned in Chris Harris cross meant we left EG with a 6-3 defeat and lots to do in the next 3 games to secure 2nd and hopefully a promotion spot
