Despite the risk of rain all day , Spalding Rugby Club went ahead with their first Family Summer Sports day for club members and their families as well as for local families wanting to see what the Club was all about.

There were fun and games for all the family as well as a great selection of stalls for people to wander around. The rain held off and there were lots of fun adult and child races which were enjoyed by all. There was a great atmosphere - the Club bar was open and BBQ offering burgers; hotdogs and bacon rolls.

John Constable, SRFC Chairman said "We were pleased with how our first Summer Sports day went and delighted to welcome a lot of new visitors to the Club. We would like to thank Holbeach Town Band and Spalding Fire Brigade for coming along as well as the 20+ trade stands that took part which amongst other things which gave all members of the family plenty to do. Some younger visitors also took part in a range of sports activities - which included obstacle courses, running and sack races as well as several throwing games. I would like to thank everyone that came along helping to make it a success."

John went on to say "Mini and Junior rugby will start at the club’s Drain Bank North ground on Sunday 5th September and 10.30am when any new players will be very welcome.”
