We have two simple aims:

Build a sustainable and competitive senior men's basketball team
Support the local community

Our purpose is to benefit present and future members of the community by promoting, encouraging, and furthering the game of basketball and other inclusive forms of physical activity as a recreational facility, sporting activity, and focus for community involvement.

Spinners Community is 100% owned by its fans. You can become a voting shareholder right now through a monthly or annual subscription to the Spinners Community, the not-for-profit mutual society which owns the club and administers the shareholdings.

The Spinners Community (full name Lancashire Spinners Basketball Club Limited, society number 8617) is a Community Benefit Society, authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, and adheres to strict rules which protects the money and assets it owns. This means that the club can never be subject to ‘asset stripping’ and all key decisions which affect the long-term future of the club are made by the community members.

As a Community member you will:

Elect members to the Spinners Community board
Vote on pivotal long term decisions
Influence issues such as kit design through board advisory votes
Be kept up to date on all aspects of the club
Be invited to apply to become a board member or volunteer
Be first to receive offers with our partners and special offers

Want to donate a one off amount or don’t want to get involved in voting then feel free to simply donate here.

Your investment will provide us with the financial resources to ensure that the long term future of the club is protected. It gives the club a buffer should it run into short term difficulties (such as a the current coronavirus pandemic) and allows short and long term projects to be developed such as:

Contributing to court hire
Sponsoring a player
Covering game days costs
Mini-bus hire
Community events
Help us raise money and support to build a new basketball/community centre

Not a penny will be wasted.

Concessions for people with low incomes

You might have noticed that we haven’t offered concessions to over 70s or other groups who might have low incomes. We do want to be as inclusive as possible and support people who cannot afford the full membership price, but recognise that age or disability alone do not automatically equate to a low income. Unemployment, for example, can happen at any stage of life. If you are over 16 and would like to apply for a membership at the concession price of £5 per month please contact us with details. We may need to ask for further information but will be as supportive as possible and treat your request in confidence.
