Why is this website called Spinners basketball community, just for the men's team?
The simple answer is because the men's team needed a site, independent from the rest of the club because the men's team operates independently.
There were many conversations behind the scenes and one was with the guys who helped us create our legal entity, the Community Benefit Society. Using the term "men's" was suggested as a no no, because it projected a concept that excluded other parts of the community. We didn't want to project that because we have two aims we strive to work towards
1) Create and build a sustainable competitive men's basketball team
2) To give back to the community
So after taking advice and guidance we settled on Spinners basketball community. A little confusing hence the explanation.
Managing a club website is also a huge task for one person to take on. Managing one team is difficult enough, and we were mindful of the quality and purpose we wanted to express.
The purpose of the men's team, in line with the goals of the CBS is to invite members to sign up to the monthly/yearly subscription or donate or sponsor the men's team to help raise funds.
Any surplus money upon the completion of the season will go back into helping the community in some way, which as a paying member you can get a chance to vote on how that money can be used.
We hope that answer's the question and if you have any questions, let us know
