Last Sunday, the boys were able to finally train together as a team and finish the session with a proper, competitive training match.
Instead of being kept to small groups of five players, Paul was able to have all seventeen players in a large circle, socially distanced at a minimum of two metres apart, warming up and stretching together, before doing a little ball work and finally going into a large match.
It was fantastic, and rather pathetically spine tingling on my part, to see the lads actually playing a proper format of football again instead of the necessarily distanced work in the previous weeks.
This now leads us towards the relative normality of a new grassroots season, starting in September as usual. Hopefully, there will be nothing to stop us being able to enjoy a proper football season without bad weather or the apocalypse getting in the way again
