Boldmere grab a point at death

Khalsa started strongly and Cunningham fired over in the second minute. Shortly afterwards Andre Brown was upended just outside the box and Thompson-Brown went close with the resulting free kick.

Khalsa were moving the ball around quickly and their wide men providing a string of crosses which resulted in a far post header by Williams which Whitehouse saved comfortably. On the quarter hour a fine passage of play down the Mikes right side resulted in Ben George finding Alex McSkeane in the box but his low shot was superbly saved by Arnold.

Khalsa immediately came storming back and from a McGrady cross Ferrier put his effort over. Fine work from Okafor resulted in him scoring from an acute angle only to be ruled out by an offside flag. The game was quickly moving from end to end with tackles flying in from both sides. McGrady made space but his effort cleared the bar and then McSkeane shot wide when well placed. As the half time whistle beckoned Okafor's overhead kick was just too high and Bowen was booked.

During the half time break the heavens opened and the downpour continued for the rest of the game. Both teams continued as they had finished the previous with both defences standing firm as the game went from end to end. In the 56th minute the home team hesitated believing the ball had gone out of play and although they won it back a stray pass was intercepted and fed to Okafor. He raced away into the area where his cross shot found the net via the inside of the post.

In the final ten minutes a corner travelled across the face of the goal but Harry Craven couldn’t apply the finishing touch. With Mikes pressing for an equaliser and with stoppage time running out the Khalsa defence failed to deal with a high ball which fell kindly to Ben George who volleyed home with aplomb. The game briefly restarted before the final whistle ended thoroughly entertaining and hard fought encounter.
