Sporting Khalsa suffered their first defeat of the campaign on Sunday in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands as they lost 4-0 to Wythenshawe at the Avensure Community Stadium.

After an even opening 23 minutes, disaster struck for Khalsa as Axten was sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

However, the visitors would have the first chance of the game when Millington’s header bounced wide of the post.

Wythenshawe opened the scoring 30 minutes in as Dulop chipped the goalkeeper after being played through to put the hosts 1-0 up.

Moments later, Wythenshawe almost scored their second after a long-range effort crashed off the underside of the bar before the rebound shot was blazed over.

Khalsa continued to push for an equaliser and almost got it when the ball fell Williams just outside the box. However, her distance effort flew just past the post

Three minutes before half-time, the hosts got their second as a shot from range from O’Gara flew into the top left corner of the net.

Two minutes into the second half, the hosts had their third as a low cross found Chambers, who buried her shot into the bottom right corner.

10 minutes later, Robinson attempted to reduce the deficit for Khalsa with a long-range shot, but it went straight into the keeper’s clutches.

Later in the half, Shannon had a good chance for Wythenshawe when she was found unmarked midway through the half, but her shot was straight at the keeper

However, Shannon would eventually get the fourth for the hosts with 10 minutes to go, thanks to a curled effort from range to condemn Khalsa to a 4-0 defeat.
