Sporting Khalsa moved out of the bottom two thanks to a fantastic performance from Andy Mulligan’s side which saw them net five first-half goals.
First half
Sporting got off to the perfect start when Cann expertly powered home a header from a fantastic corner 12 minutes in.
Just two minutes later, the hosts had their second. A wicked delivery found Winters unmarked who placed the ball into the bottom corner from four yards out.
The goals kept coming and what a finish Sporting’s third was arguably the best of the night. The ball came to Smith 25-yards out and she hit it perfectly to blast past the ‘keeper and put Mulligan’s side further in front mid-way through the first half.
After 24 minutes, Sporting made it 4-0. Wonderful play down the right side saw the hosts find Kennerley. From here, the winger drilled the ball into the box and found Davies who drilled it into the bottom corner from close range.
Thompson almost netted one of the goals of the season as she ran through the Halifax defence before she forced a good save from the ‘keeper.
Sporting continued to control the game and were awarded a penalty right at the end of the first half after a push on Szymkowiak in the box. Smith stepped up and fired the ball into the net to give the hosts an unbelievable 5-0 lead at half-time.
Second half
Sporting started off the second period well and almost had a sixth when a shot rattled the side of the Halifax post.
The visitors got a goal back from a free-kick as Megan Cardenas’ shot bounced off the post and into the net.
Halifax ramped up the pressure as they searched for a second goal but Sporting managed to subdue their attacks.
Towards the end of the match, Sporting finally netted their sixth as the ball was put on a plate for Philpott who was unmarked from two yards out and made no mistake as she rolled it into the net.
From here, Sporting saw out the final minutes of the game to lift the club up to 10th in the table.
