Match report

The under 9s followed up their first win 2 weeks ago with another great success.
The game was played on Saturday morning 5th Nov on a wet pitch but thankfully the rain held off for the match.
Benfica started off this game on the defensive as they were missing a few regulars from the start but their defence held firm with some great defending from Art and Frankie  and also  some fine goalkeeping from stand-in keeper Oisin.
Gradually Benfica came more into the game and grew in confidence . There were some nice touches from Bailey,  Maliki and Samuel in midfield and chances were created. eventually the goal came after some good pressure from Tashan.
Benfica then made a few switches, introducing Harisson for his debut in Goals and bringing on Finn on the wing.
It was anyone's game at this stage as Sapo Verde tried for the equaliser but some great tackling from Oisin and Art in particular relieved the pressure.  Harrison was having a great debut in goals and caught everything that came his way.
Further up the field Finn was making some great runs and crossing into the danger area but the opposition keeper made some great saves to keep out birthday-boy Tashan.
The half-time score was 1-0 to Benfica
Benfica Started off the second half in determined fashion with Bailey's dribbling and Finn's strong running a feature.
From one of many strong runs down the wing Finn eventually got the second goal. it was a great individual effort and worthy of winning any match. Benfica now looked comfortable and sensed victory. Tashan was very unlucky when a great effort hit the post and Maliki and Bailey were running the show in midfield. At the back nothing was getting past the tough- tackling Art and further back there were some timely clearances from Frankie and Oisin.  As the game neared its conclusion players confidence grew and more chances were created by some good teamwork by Samuel and especially Maliki.
Overall this was a very good team performance by all the boys with some exceptional performances.Man of the Match.... Art!
