Going into what will be his third season at Squires Gate, young midfielder Rowan Chambers has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.
Making just under 100 appearances across his first two seasons, Chambers has impressed with his work rate, tenacity and leadership, even being made Vice Captain last season.
He feels Gate have made a lot of progress since this time last year, and is excited to return for pre-season in a couple of weeks.
Chambers said: “We had a tough start last season.
“It took a while to get going but as the season went on it progressively got better and now I feel we’re at our best.
“I’m buzzing for pre season as well.
“It feels good to have a rest but it gets boring after a couple of weeks and I can’t wait to get back and put the work in.”
After a tough start to last season, Gate ended the season strongly, and Chambers feels the team will take that momentum forward.
He said: “I definitely feel like we can take our good form into next season.
“There’s such a good feeling around the changing room, I think after a good pre season we will be off to a flying start.”
The midfielder also outlined his goals for the upcoming campaign: “I think my personal goals line up with the team’s goals to be honest.
“I just want to help the club climb higher and higher up the table and hopefully be looking at them play off spots this year.”
Gate kick off their pre-season on Tuesday 2 July at home to Chorley FC, with the NWCFL Premier Division starting on Saturday 27 July.
